Somalia’s Information Minister Abdifatah Qasim Mahmoud chaired a monthly meeting of information offices from federal government institutions on Wednesday, as authorities sought to strengthen coordination of official communications ahead of the country’s Independence Days celebrations. The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Mogadishu, focused on unifying government messaging, improving media relations and accelerating public awareness campaigns, according to officials.
Participants discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination among federal institutions responsible for public communications, with particular attention given to preparations for campaigns marking Somalia’s Independence Days.
Officials emphasized the importance of delivering consistent messages to the public on the values of freedom, patriotism, national unity and the history of Somalia’s independence struggle.
Government spokesman and Director of Communications at the Prime Minister’s Office, Abdinasir Ahmed Bashir, outlined the significance of the meeting, saying it played a key role in strengthening collaboration among government communication offices.
He said the regular gatherings help ensure that government messages are unified, transparent and effectively reach the Somali public.
Participants also exchanged proposals on improving information-sharing, expanding media cooperation and enhancing the quality of public awareness initiatives, while stressing the need for a coordinated communications strategy that serves national interests.
