The Somali National Army (SNA) has deployed a new group of ground forces to support a large-scale military campaign targeting militant groups across several regions, marking a renewed push to strengthen security operations nationwide.

At a send-off event held at a military facility near Mogadishu, the commander of the SNA’s ground forces addressed the troops, urging them to uphold discipline and carry out their duties with professionalism as they move into active operation zones.

He noted that the mission will focus on clearing militant strongholds, protecting vital supply routes, and helping restore stability in areas that have faced repeated attacks. The commander described the deployment as a critical step in ongoing efforts to improve security and rebuild affected communities.

The latest troop movement is part of a broader strategy involving coordination with regional administrations and international partners. The plan combines offensive military actions with efforts to secure territories already recaptured from armed groups.

According to military sources, the additional forces are being sent to reinforce positions where extremist elements, including al-Shabaab, have recently attempted to regain a foothold.

Reports from parts of central and southern Somalia indicate an increase in military activity in recent days, suggesting preparations for an expanded phase of operations.
