Kuresoi South MP, Hon. Joseph Kipkosgei Tonui, has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works of the National Assembly.
His nomination, made in accordance with Standing Order 179(6) of the National Assembly, was proposed by Kipkelion East MP Hon. Joseph Cherorot and seconded by Nyaribari Masaba MP Hon. Daniel Manduku.
Members of the Committee congratulated Hon. Tonui on his election and expressed confidence in his leadership as the Committee carries out its legislative, oversight, and representative functions during the current parliamentary session.
Hon. Tonui succeeds in leading the Committee with the support of Buuri MP Hon. Rindikiri Mugambi, who has been serving as Acting Chairperson and continues to serve as the Committee’s Vice-Chairperson.
The Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works is responsible for overseeing matters related to housing, urban development, public works, and infrastructure projects. It also examines legislation, reviews policy proposals, and monitors the implementation of programmes within its mandate.
