The Commissioner of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Maxamuud Macalin Cabdulle, accompanied by the Galmudug Drought Committee, arrived in Cadaado as part of an official mission to support ongoing drought relief operations in the region.
During his visit, Mr. Maxamuud met with the Cadaado District Drought Committee, where they presented a detailed report on the current drought situation and its impact on local communities. The SoDMA Chairman pledged to continue strengthening relief efforts and support for those affected by the drought.
Following the meeting in Cadaado, the delegation traveled to Baxdo District, where they delivered 100 water tanks provided by the local Drought Committee to be distributed among vulnerable households in Baxdo and surrounding areas.
As part of the field mission, the Chairman conducted assessments of the drought’s impact on pastoralist communities, aiming to improve planning and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
Officials emphasized that such field visits are essential for evaluating local needs, coordinating with regional authorities, and ensuring that relief efforts reach the most vulnerable segments of society.
This initiative reflects ongoing efforts by SoDMA and regional partners to mitigate the effects of the current drought and provide timely humanitarian support to communities in Galmudug and other affected areas
